To whom it may concern:
I am the director and founder of the International Art Group at Insight Arts, 1545 W.Morse, Chicago, Illinois 60626, an organization, which since 2001 creates exhibitions and performances in America and Europe. At the MCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) since 2004-2010, I have also been working as museum guide for the public and to schools around Chicago, teaching to view, discuss and understand the value of contemporary art.
At the Galaxie, founded by Nicolle Woods, I have been teaching children Mask Mime Theater classes for several years, integrating multi- cultural plays. 2010, I have taught for Circo in Hannover several mask Mime Theater workshops to teachers, actors and clowns. Since 2005, I have directed and performed several large mask performances with Chicago Mask Ensemble at the Bucktown Arts Festival, the Glenwoods Arts Festival and also at Peter Jones Gallery and the North Lakeside Cultural Center in Chicago.
For 15 years, I have worked as International Tour guide in Chicago and in Germany, developing art and architecture, neighborhood tours and special cultural tours to benefit different types of age groups and visitors from around the world.
From 2003-2007 at the Phoenix Mental Health Care Center in Chicago, I directed the art, music and dance programs for disabled and mentally challenged elders.
From 1988-2002, I have taught for A.R.T.(Art Resources in Teaching) Chicago, Illinois as artist in residence in the public schools and created multiple curricula in World Art, Stories and Art, Making Art come Alive through Theater and Indigenous Masks, Clay Sculpture and Drawing, Poetry and Dance. I also taught residencies, after school programs and workshops at inner city schools for children K-8 and teachers and taught teacher and parent workshops. During that time I created many multicultural art programs and performances with professional dancers and actors.
Since 1986 I have worked as director, choreographer and teacher. I have directed an International ensemble of artists and dancers, the Chicago Mask Ensemble and Scharniertheater Hannover, Germany(Performances last few years: The Deer and HisFolk,2012,Syke,TheTransformationTraveler,2011,Syke. The Gift of Elfs, Mirror Images with Mr. Buchwald, Black Birds and Vagabonds, Color Dance, Dream Journey, Australia, The Magic Bell, Ghana for Columbia College and Beverly Arts Center Theater, The Fate of the Magos, Mexico for the schools in Chicago, Moremi, Nigeria; Aztec Rituals, Mexico A Flor DA Lua, Brazil; The Royal Game with the SCHARNIER THEATER HANOVER, Germany and many more performances, funded and produced by the Illinois Arts Council, the Goethe Institute, Harold Washington Library, the Cultural Center, Beacon street Gallery, Channel 11 TTW.)
For Youth Guidance at Thurgood Marshall Middle School Chicago, Illinois 2001-2002, I worked as Youth Guidance Specialist and taught introductory 16 session residencies to 7th and 8th grade classes in International Movement Theater, Mime and Dance. I also directed an after school program in art, dance and video production for youth. I helped to develop tools for the NMSA (National Association for Middle schools) to implement academic curricula with a Special Cultural Arts Program. I produced Native American Indian story performances with four 7th grade classrooms for a Christmas assembly.
At the German Cultural Center, Goethe Institute Chicago, Illinois 1992-1997, I worked as Language Arts Teacher, I taught German Theater courses with plays by Brecht, Handke, Botho Strauss, and Boell. During that time I also directed youth at Carl Sandburg High School to perform German plays and fairy tales and improvisation and taught songs of German folklore and chansons.
At St. Mels elementary School in Chicago, 1983 - 1993, directed by Najwa 1, I taught Mime and German language classes.
At the Art Institute, Chicago, Illinois 1985-1990, I received my BFA in Painting, Sculpture, Performance and at the Folkwang Hochschule, Essen, Germany 1977-1980, I studied Theater, Mime and Dance.
